Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts Announces Victoria
Mazzarelli's Appointment to the Position of Artistic Director

Victoria Mazzarelli wins gold medal in 1984 representing the Nutmeg Ballet Company.

Ms. Mazzarelli’s devotion to dance began in 1970, when she was barely more than a tot enrolled at the then brand-new Nutmeg Ballet. She took to it like a swan takes to water, studying under the tutelage of Nutmeg founder Sharon Dante, who dreamed of training a student who could win a gold medal. The dream came true when Ms. Mazzarelli received the only gold medal awarded at the 1984 International Ballet Competition in New York City. The young ballerina was shocked that she won, and giddily accepted the award from actors Tony Randall and Gwen Verdon.

"Last year I did a breast cancer benefit with Tim Melady. We danced a duet and I really enjoyed stepping into that role As a breast cancer survivor, hometown girl Victoria Mazzarelli has a personal interest in the cause and participates every year in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Litchfield." -- Nutmeg Conservatory's New Artistic Director Is a Hometown Girl--and Ballet World Star : Litchfield County Times, 30 November 2011.
